Our last three days

OK folks this is the story of everything that has happened since Monday at 5:30 pm. Select people already know everything that has happened. It was our choice to only let those people know at the time so please be respectful of that. That being said this will get very personal and might be too much information for some of y'all. I am letting you know now.

Monday started off normal. I got up watched Gilmore Girls and Holmes makes it right until 5:30 pm. I then hopped in the shower. During that 30 minute shower, I had four contractions, not braxton hicks but real contractions. I called the labor and delivery unit that my doctor has privileges at. They said to time them for another hour so that's what we did. When that hour was up, Jay called them again and gave them the statistics. I was having at least 45 second contractions every 2-3 minutes. They said to come in as soon as possible. We waited until after having dinner before we left for the hospital. We arrived at the case room at 8pm. They had someone come and hook me up to a monitor to catch the contractions and to make sure the baby was doing OK. At 10pm they checked my cervix and I was 1 cm dilated. That is not a good thing for a 33.5 week pregnant woman. They wanted to start me on steroids right then but I wanted to wait and see what the OB had to say. When I met with her, she wanted to start the steroids so we did. They checked me again around midnight and I was almost 3 cm dilated. They were going to send me to the antepartum department but instead of doing that I went to labor and delivery. I was there until 10 am yesterday. At that point my contractions had stopped because of the two oral pills that they had given me. I overall dilated to 3cm before everything stopped. They kept me in the hospital until today at 11am. During the time that I was at the antepartum unit the contractions stopped altogether but I had to stay to get the second shot of steroids for the baby's lungs just in case. They sent me home to be on bed rest hopefully until 37 weeks. At that point I can get active again. I am on moderate bed rest which just means that I can only stand long enough to take a shower or make a sandwich.

So that is pretty much everything that has happened since Monday. Please call or text before coming over. I do not want to be overwhelmed by people or stressed out by having a lot of visitors. This is the choice that Jay and I have made together so please respect that. We will keep everyone up to date as things happen.

Pregnancy and Week 17

Well as everyone knows by now. Jay and I are expecting our first child. This sweet bundle of joy will be here on or around November 21. So far it has been a pretty rough pregnancy. I have been in and out of the hospital 7 times at this point. At first it was infections they could not get under control. Then we thought we were miscarrying but thankfully we did not. That was a long night but we survived it. After that I was in the emergency room again because I was dehydrated and unable to keep anything, and I do mean anything, down. They hooked me up to an iv and gave me fluids for like 3 hours.

Finally at 17 weeks my nausea has finally gone away for the most part. I can actually eat food and smell it cooking without running to my best friend, Mr. Bucket. My bump is not always around which is very disappointing. However when it is around it is really there. There is no mistaking it for having eaten a big lunch.I lost 15 pounds in one month. I really scared the doctors which was not fun at all. I have started gaining back the weight that I lost during the first trimester. Only 4 pounds as of my last doctors appointment. That is better than not gaining any of it back though. We get to find out the gender of the baby on the 28th. Still not sure if we are going to do a gender reveal party or even have a baby shower. We will let y'all know more as we know more. Now for some pictures.

New Beginnings

So as most of you know Jay and I got married on March 16. I have some awesome photos to share with everyone. Shout out to Kaylin Booker. She did an awesome job.
Yes, we didn't dress up super fancy for our wedding. We had a simple ceremony with friends and family. There is a bigger wedding in June that will be our vow renewal and will be super fancy. Here is a photo of friends and family.
In the forefront is Kristi and next to her is Curtis. Then there is Jay's stepmom, Chris and his dad, Derek. Kristi and Curtis were our witnesses. Many thanks to them. Thank you for bearing with me as I learn how to blog and put all of this together. I will be posting more updates and sharing exciting news as it happens.
